Bending is a form of structural engineering and follows the same
laws. In the case of structural engineering, all operation is
below the elastic limit. In the case of bending, all operation
is above the elastic limit. The standard bending formula is: Pedrick benders
are rated in Bending Moments measured in inch-pounds. Pedrick's Model A-5 with a bending capacity of 20,000 IN-lbs of
bending moment is the proper selection.

Tube, Pipe, and Metal Bending Machine Selection
The rotary compression bending process is suitable for bending
pipe and tubing to a centerline radius that is equal to three
times (3D) the nominal pipe size or actual tube diameter. On schedule
80 and extra heavy pipe satisfactory bends can be made on a 2D
radius. These bends are suitable for replacing welded elbows in
process piping applications. Our benders are used a great deal
by the power plant industry (hydroelectric, fossil fired, and
nuclear). They are also used extensively in pipe shops for plant
maintenance and by manufacturers of products that require process
piping and hydraulic lines. Bends that are made on a 5D radius
are used primarily in nuclear plants and by shipbuilding companies,
although they are being used more frequently by industry. PEDRICK
benders are best suited for applications that require a compact,
low priced machine that requires minimal maintenance.
